SPOTLIGHT

"MY FAVORITE SUICIDE"
Saudade Theatre presents a co-production with Colectivo 84

A World Premiere

Playwright & Director Mickaël de Oliveira
Translated by Maria Inês Marques
Produced by Vanessa Varela, Filipe Valle Costa & Diogo Martins
Assistant Director Filipe Valle Costa
Original Music by Drum & Lace
The story of my brother's suicide is all we have left. A story told by those who live. My parents used to say that he was ill, weak, that a part of his spirit just wasted away. No one ever really understood his suicide, he himself used to say that he had it all. Besides, everyone knew his remarkable intelligence and talent to perform, which was his favorite thing in life. Our family changed after his death. I, for one, went back home and ended up staying, because my parents asked me to help them decipher his last email to us, moments before he gave in to death. Besides explaining his reasons, he also described, in great detail, the whole process, in a message whose title read: My Favorite Suicide.
